The week that was 8th March

Yet again another tragic week for those in the Ukraine as our screens and newspapers have once again been populated with the most heart breaking of stories but at least the UK population is starting to pull together, be it by hosting refugees or by various fundraising efforts – more of that in this week’s Club Notices below.
It has also been a week of travel related news - from complete carnage within the UK ferry industry, to the first major Royal Tour since the start of the pandemic and on to an emotional reunion from overseas.
First up, we saw major disruption to the travel industry as P&O ferries were called to shore and the workforce and crew of 800 made redundant with immediate effect, in what was a major travesty for our UK ferry industry.
Then William and Kate embarked on an 8-day tour of the Caribbean (I think the Gaffer is rather partial to the Duchess of Cambridge and thought this pic might brighten up his day!). And finally some good news at last for Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe who was finally released after spending six years held captive in Iran and she returned to the UK last week for a very emotional reunion with her husband and daughter. Fingers crossed for a similar outcome of good triumphing over evil in the Ukraine.
Over to this week’s figures which also saw similar movement and momentum over on the mortgage side of the business which this week saw lending shoot up to £43,797,909 across 122 cases, thanks to some absolutely outstanding performances from our guys at the top this week led by Ron Walton who managed to secure £9,585,550 (yes you read that correctly) across 8 cases.
Ron was ably followed by Ian Broadrick who secured £4,490,073 of lending across 5 cases and Chris Taylor with £2,091,249 of lending across 6 cases.
Not at all surprisingly Ron also scooped up this week’s “Big Time Barry” Award for his £2,809,021 deal with Kent Reliance and in fact all three of this week’s largest deals were attributed to one Mr Walton.
Then fellow high flyers this week in terms of their case values and volumes were Nick Harris, Lorraine Standring, Ajay Sharma, Zak Abdul Karim, Mike Atkinson, Sean McGeough, Sarju Rach, Laura Sayers, Martin Whitehouse, Rhys Forrest, Sarah Norman and Russell Davis.
On the lender side you completed the greatest number of cases this week with NatWest totalling 19 for £5,715,782 of lending.
Protection – Week 10

Another very good week over on the protection side of the business with 33 deals completed this week of which Sophie Evans secured 16 and Nick Price 14.
Sophie and Nick then tied with Sean McGeough in securing the highest policy amounts this week jointly of £500,000 with Vitality (Nick) and L&G (Sophie and Sean.)
On the provider side you completed the greatest number of deals overall with AIG Life totalling 7.
Birthday’s and other Parish Notices
Many Happy Returns this week to Colette Hall for the 25th March and to Russell Davis for the 26th.
Club Notices For Members

The first main topic this week ….. doing what we can for those poor orphans in Ukraine.
The Gaffer is busy organising the Industry 's very own LiveAid styled concert & details of this will follow shortly.
But before that, we can also get behind our most decorated partner in Simon Holdsworth who is amazingly, driving to Ukraine shortly with a truck full of essentials.
Details re: how to donate items will follow later this week, but let's try to do our best to give him all the support we can. What a great effort, Simon.
Then breaking news…… and we are delighted to confirm that Tom and Emma Sibley are now staying (i.e. they ain’t leaving!)
Also good news regarding our UK Conference later this year. Thanks to the kind recognition that we get from HSBC this will take place at HSBC’s Headquarters in Canary Wharf, London, in October with the date to follow . There will also be a series of Top Performers luncheons high up in their private dining room facility and the dates and qualification criteria for this will also follow shortly.
Finally the Gaffer is currently up in Scotland where he had lunch at Rhys’s house today as pictured above.
Have a good week all.
Kerry
