The week that was 7th December

So with many of our social groups spending the Big Day in isolation, Hogmanay cancelled and drones marking the New Year over a rather quiet Thames, Christmas and NYE 2021 were certainly still far from the norm but at least we saw ghastly Ghislaine banged up, had the always fabulous Kylie and Olly Alexander on the Beeb for New Years , the long awaited return of The Apprentice to look forward to this week and many of us still got to spend the festive period with our loved ones! Happy 2022 everyone! Here’s to a (hopefully) better year!

Mortgages

Week 50

Moving into our own Boardroom and Sir Alan would have been very pleased indeed with the stats for Week 50 as amidst the festivities you still managed to complete £25,847,823 of lending across 88 cases.

Never mind LadBaby and those goddamn sausage rolls, it was Chris Taylor who topped our own charts with £2,313,505 of lending across 3 cases, his £1,340,272 deal with NatWest also earning him the “Big Time Barry” accolade for Week 50 . Also in this week’s top three were Raff Federico and Phil Lyle and then putting on even more sparkly performances than Kylie in her famous hotpants were Adriana Rocha, Ajay Sharma, Spencer Havers, Dominic Willett, Rachel Vernile, Heather Wall and Nick Harris who all scored highly in terms on case volume and value.

Santander meanwhile were on top of the lender charts in Week 50 as you completed 16 cases with them for £5,024,470 of lending.

Week 51

You guys also pulled out all the stops in Week 51 giving Santa a run for his money by securing £26,540,671 of lending across 78 cases.

Mark Nathan secured a massive £4,100,000 across just 2 cases and not surprisingly, his £3,900,000 case with Paragon won him the “Big Time Barry” Award for Week 51.

Mark was joined in this week’s top three by Phil Lyleand Ian Broadrick and then dazzling in terms of case volume and value this week were Nick Harris, Ron Walton, Spencer Havers, Mike Atkinson, Ajay Sharma, Warren Middleton, Paul Varney and Ricki Wenn.

Santander meanwhile were out on top again with 13 cases for £5,216,083 of lending.

1. Like many of you, The Gaffer is away until next Monday and has asked me to pass on his condolences to Phil Lyle, and our resident 'ammers in Norms, Mark the Samsonite, Lee The Power Darts, & Warren of the Fens ......all of whom were cruelly downed by Conte's flukey spurs over Xmas. 🛠️🐝

2. Please look out for notes from myself (Kerry!) and Silv over the coming days looking to book in 121's & field visits in the coming weeks.

《 ... The Business must start this year with more ticks in its Supervision boxes than it did last year. Notwithstanding the pandemic etc, we had a dozen or so brokers last year who did not attend (either physically or via Zoom) the required 75% of broker meetings/calls . A guidance note from CB will follow shortly.

The theme for the 1st six months of this year will be Compliance & catching up on the hiatus which Covid caused as from April the FCA will be back in the field.

Lenders are also hinting that they will be less forgiving over any transgressions than they were in 2019, '20 & '21. We don't ideally want to lose any of you.

3. Jan is a £40bn month for PT's , the second highest EVER! 💴💰

It may still not be too late to salvage some of these?

Either way, April 2022 actually will be the biggest PT month ever, so please ensure that you are ahead of that now ...

4. With the base rate having risen in December & inflation + utility bills rising fast, we are already prepping a Re-mortgage themed NEWSLETTER to show you all by the end of next week.

With many of your clients presently WFH, this should achieve a high response rate.

5. The 2022 Conference.

Amid the icy blast that is allegedly coming our way , some warmer news to look forward to. 🌤️🌤️🌤️🍷

This will now likely be in Cannes/Monte Carlo/St Tropez in the 1st week of October.

So (viruses permitting! 😷) it's probably best to mark it on your kitchen calendar now & line up those brownie point-scoring exercises with any spouses etc for late September!

A full note on that will follow within 2 weeks 🌤️🌤️

Happy New Year to All.
