The week that was 22nd March

Afternoon All; A sad week this one in which we said goodbye to Tom Parker (from the Wanted) and Eastenders’ icon June Brown (Dot Cotton) who will forever be remembered smoking those fags behind the launderette and despairing over her dastardly son Nick!.

And in the week when we also saw the cost of living rise in the UK as energy price caps were removed, please spare a thought for the poor Beckhams, who along with the Peltz family are having to fork out over £3 million for their offspring’s (Brooklyn and Nicola) wedding extravaganza this coming weekend in addition to paying the gas and electricity bills! There’s always Klarna Vicky! Then talking of taking things to excess, the Body Coach himself, Joe Wickes, confessed this week to some over- indulging on the bacon sarnies of late as he unveiled his new (hopefully temporary) look in the press! (Maybe our very own Mr Havers could give him some work out tips! Word on the street is also that our own Mr Muscles has some muscular cases completing soon too which will close the gap on Sarj, Mark the ‘Ammer, Simon H and Nick H. 😊)

Moving on to this week’s figures over on the mortgage side of the business, which were certainly more shapely than Mr Wickes current state, with 88 deals completed in Week 12 for £33,963,986 of lending.

Top of the charts was Sandy Mcilvenna with £3,814,495 of lending across 3 cases and she also scored a double whammy in securing this week’s Large Loan Award for her two whopping deals with Tandem for £1,875,000 and £1,687,500.

Then in second and third place were Will Avrili with £3,288,530 across 4 deals and Ron Walton with £2,794,130 across 8 deals.

Following on with their high impact performances in terms of case value and volume were Tom Sibley, Ricki Wenn, Zak Abdul Karim, the aforementioned Spencer Havers, Kamlesh Jetha, Ian Broadrick, Mark Nathan and Nick Harris.

Congrats also to William Townsend. Our growing contingent of Scottish brokers understandably have lower average loan sizes than what we see doooon sooooth ….but his £723k with Santander was a Calcutta Cup Winner! 😊 A small consolation for William with The Old Firm game not going his way sadly ☹.

On the lender side you completed the greatest number of deals this week with Santander totalling 12 for £4,395,468 of lending.

Protection – Week 12

A slightly more restrained week over on the protection side of the business with 28 deals completed of which the remarkable duo that is Nick Price and Sophie Evans each secured 12.

Nick also completed the top two highest policy amounts this week for £370,000 each with Royal London and L&G.

On the provider side you completed the greatest number of deals overall this week with AIG totalling 6.

Birthday’s and other Parish Notices

Many Happy Returns to Jaime Lines who is celebrating his Birthday today. Have a great day Jaime. No doubt still celebrating from having put the Villains in their rightful place at the weekend? 😊

Club Notices For Members

1. A big Thank You to all those who attended a regional CPD get together last week. As mentioned, we have too many brokers presently behind on these so we do need to up our game here collectively thru 2022. 121 's will also be a key part of that.

2. HSBC: As was highlighted last week, please keep an eye out for the fact that in the final year of any redemption period, they are willing to break the fixture & charge a daily / pro rata'd rate. 👍. Also re HSBC, look out for some Top Performer invitations coming shortly to their private dining room in Canary Wharf on the 34th floor. Hopefully, none of you are Vertigo sufferers!

3. Life Assurance; Please be aware that many companies' premiums are now up to 10% cheaper than what they were pre Covid.

4. West Brom; Remember, on any residential apps SUBMITTED before Sept 1st you will receive ALL of the proc fee.

Also, on any COMPANY BTL business you get the first £500.

We are in a good position with The Society, & thank you for your hospitality for them last week. But we'd like ideally to place more business with them as doing so results in greater support for our business elsewhere.

5. Finally, Double Congratulations:

Firstly to our resident 007, Nice Mike Atkinson who passed his Later Life exam last week 👍🍷

His exam result saw heavy trading on the London stock market where shares in Summit added 23% , with shares in Centric falling 12%.

LMB 's stock also rose sharply in heavy trading on the signing of Tom Di Caprio & also rumours that Phil Lyle was also going to sit the Equity Release exam ....

And Well Done to Paul Varney & Nice Mike also for winning last week's Spring Masters. Look out for the next ‘’Major‘’ at Mr varney’s Saffron Walden fortress in May!

Ian Broadrick also had a good day, ace-ing the 18th hole to win £2000 in association with Barclays High Net Worth lending! {well …we hope so , depending on which wholly unpredictable Barclays BDM is looking after the case! ☹☹)

Have a good week all.

👍
